Luxury retail finds sweet spot at airports

Revenue from travel retail, including sales in airports, on airplanes and on cruise ships, is growing rapidly. A study by Generation Research indicates that revenues rose 9.4 percent in 2012 to €55.8 billion. Much of this growth stems from soaring numbers of Asian tourists. While ten years ago Chinese tourists went largely unnoticed by luxury brands, Bain & Company recently reported that they now account for 29 percent of global luxury spending.
