Share your journey to Bain.
Coming from Amherst, I quickly noticed that so many of the people a few years ahead of me -who I thought were the smartest, most well-rounded classmates - kept accepting jobs to work at Bain. After seeing so many of these students I looked up to choose Bain, I knew it was the place I wanted to be.
Those Bainees then went out of their way to support me - taking calls and walking me through the interview process - which reinforced how supportive the culture really was. When it came time to apply for jobs, I genuinely believed Bain was the best place in the world to start a career. I had an incredible time as an ACI before my senior year and signed to stay full-time within seconds of receiving my offer.
How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?
During my ACI summer, the Boston office held its annual Summer Meeting at Gillette Stadium. Between the office update and a performance by the Bain Band, the stadium staff needed to clear 1,000+ chairs to make room for the dance floor while the Bainees headed out for dinner.
On my way to the bathroom during dinner, I happened to walk by the floor and stopped in my tracks. I saw Gillette staff clearing chairs alongside Tamar Dor-Ner, the Bain Boston office head at the time.
In that moment, it clicked that Bain’s talk about culture wasn’t just talk. The most senior leader in the office was pitching in to help wherever she could to make the experience better for everyone. That was the kind of culture I knew I wanted to be a part of.
Share some of your favorite work (personal or professional) you’ve done while at Bain.
Some of my favorite professional experiences at Bain have been doing PEG diligence work to understand niche industries. Getting on the phone with experts to understand the intricacies of an industry you didn’t even know existed weeks ago - and then doing the primary and secondary research to build market models, competitive landscapes, forecasts, and voice-of-the-customer narratives - has been some of the most interesting work for me at Bain thus far.
From firefighter software solutions to third-party sports complex management to outsourced pharma clinical testing providers, I’ve loved the chance to quickly go deep and make sense of entirely new spaces.
