Share your journey to Bain.
I studied Chemical Engineering during university, and remember trying to decide between a traditional chemical engineering career vs. consulting, which I had limited background in. I had been introduced to Bain through a school conference, and decided to try out a summer in consulting before making my decision.
During my internship, I was staffed on an Oil & Gas program transformation, working on identifying opportunities for their commercial strategy. I loved the team-based & fast-paced structure of work, but most of all, the opportunity to approach an industry I understood on a technical basis from an absolutely different perspective. I ultimately decided to return to Bain as an Associate Consultant!
Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?
Absolutely, I see the impacts in both my case work & professional development journey.
On case work - I'm currently supporting on a Mining project where I'm able to travel to the mine site and work closely with our clients, identifying together opportunities and analyses to run. It's been quite exciting and rewarding witnessing firsthand the impacts of your work and product of collaboration with clients.
On professional development - Bain offers so many opportunities to grow professionally, from business school sponsorship to trying an externship in a different industry. I'm excited about the opportunity to 'test' and try out different learning journeys, which is especially important to me at the start of my career.
What should candidates know?
Be super intentional on why you're interested in consulting & how Bain's values resonate with you. Think of your application as a 'story' - how did your background and experiences get you to applying for Bain? This will help you understand how you're a good fit for Bain, and also how Bain is a good fit for you!
