About Maggie

How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?

The people! Bainies are some of the most thoughtful and welcoming people I've ever met. After I received my offer to join the New York office, a Bainie I had really connected with during recruitment gifted me two candles: one with the scent from California (where I grew up) and one with the scent of Central Park (where I was going!) She wanted to reassure me that while I always had a home in San Francisco, New York was so excited to be my next step. It was so incredibly thoughtful and I saw that Bain was a place that cared about its people deeply - both in and outside of work. And that has been proven to me time and again since I started working here.

“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”

As an AC2, I took a 5-month externship to go work for Harry's Inc. (a company founded by ex-Bainies) where I learned a ton about retail and consumer products, and what life is like outside of consulting. After returning to Bain for a few more years, I decided to get my MBA at the Wharton School, where I graduated in 2024. Bain has given me so many opportunities to try new things while still providing support and structure where I need it.

What advice would you give a candidate who is interested in recruiting for consulting?

You have to prepare! The case interview is not something you can cram for in the 24 hours before your interview. Start prepping a few months before to be sure you understand what types of questions will be asked and how to structure your responses. But remember - we're not looking for someone to recite words from a textbook. Really think through what business problem is being described, and be thoughtful and creative in the best way you think we can solve that problem.
