What advice would you give a candidate who is interested in recruiting for consulting?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone interested in recruiting for consulting is to take the time to truly understand what the consulting path offers and why it excites you. The process can feel fast-paced and competitive, but success comes from being authentic and intentional. Spend time learning about the different firms, their cultures, and the types of work they do — and think critically about what aligns best with your interests and goals. Practice case interviews early, but don’t lose sight of developing strong communication and teamwork skills, which are just as important. Most importantly, use the recruiting journey as an opportunity to connect with people — current consultants, peers, and alumni — and learn from their experiences. Those conversations not only make you a stronger candidate, but also help you decide if consulting is truly the right fit for you.
