In college, I majored in finance, but I was drawn to different areas of business and consistently found myself most energized by problem solving and collaborative work. I joined the Indiana Undergraduate Consulting Workshop, where I sharpened my analytical thinking and had the opportunity to compete in several international case competitions. Those experiences solidified my interest in consulting. After interning at a boutique private equity firm the summer following my junior year, I realized I also wanted exposure to broader, generalist strategy work. I re-recruited for consulting, joined Bain, and have genuinely loved the my experience at the firm.
How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?
From the very beginning of recruiting, what stood out to me at Bain was the people. Every conversation felt genuine. It was clear that Bainies were not only intelligent, but also humble, deeply invested in each other’s success, and excited to solve problems together. I kept hearing the phrase, “a Bainie never lets another Bainie fail,” and once I joined the firm, I saw that lived out every day.
Bain has a strong culture of support and an environment where you grow quickly. Everyone shares a rigorous, structured problem-solving mindset. You are constantly learning both from formal feedback as well as informal interactions with colleagues and clients along the way. The combination of high expectations and strong support made it clear that Bain was where I wanted to build my career.
Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?
Impact was a big part of what drew me to Bain, and I’ve been fortunate to experience it in multiple ways. On client work, I’ve seen firsthand how our recommendations translate into real decisions and measurable results. Beyond casework, Bain’s “extra tens” culture has allowed me to make an impact within the firm and the broader community. As a class captain, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with my class and office leadership to help shape the AC experience. It’s been incredibly rewarding to play a small role in cultivating our class culture and strengthening connections within our cohort. Recruiting is another area where I’ve felt a meaningful sense of impact. Bainies invested so much time in helping me navigate the recruiting process, and being able to pay that forward as a School Team Lead feels like a full-circle moment. Lastly, through initiatives like Community Impact Day and other service-focused “extra tens,” I’ve been able to contribute to the Chicago community alongside my colleagues. The opportunity to drive impact across clients, the firm, and the community is what continues to excite me most about Bain.
