Press release
London – 18 Oct. 2018 - Bain & Company, the global business consulting firm, claimed the number one spot on the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and Glassdoor’s 2018 Leadership and Culture list in the United Kingdom. The firm was the only consultancy to make the 2018 list, which included such companies as Facebook, XPO Logistics and Salesforce. The ranking is based exclusively on employee ratings on Glassdoor.
“This recognition is a huge point of pride for us, and we believe that it reflects the general trust in leadership felt across all of our extraordinary teams,” said Barney Hamilton, Chief Talent Officer at Bain & Company. “Because Bain & Company functions as an apprenticeship business, many senior leaders have worked their way through the firm and therefore value the importance of treating all employees with transparency and respect.”
While many organizations talk about setting their employees up for success, Bain & Company sets a higher bar, ensuring that all employees not only succeed, but thrive both personally and professionally. Thriving for both men and women focuses on growing, developing vigorously, and flourishing even with the different professional and personal dynamics that they each face. The firm also emphasizes mentorship, sponsorship and comprehensive benefits – including everything from flexible work options – to unconscious bias training, to ensure that employees thrive in their careers.
Key to maintaining this supportive team culture is the strategic emphasis the firm places on diversity. Bain & Company takes aggressive measures to attract and develop the best talent, with diverse backgrounds, styles, and perspectives - an approach that results in more breakthrough client results and more fulfilling, rewarding experiences for the firm’s employees. An example of the firm’s commitment to diversity is evident in Bain’s True North Scholarship, a new initiative that aims to encourage more women to pursue careers in the consulting.
The importance that Bain & Company places on maintaining a supportive culture has helped the firm earn recognition around the world as a great place to work. It is the only company to rank number one on Glassdoor’s “Best Places to Work” list on three separate occasions, and it has consistently placed in the top four since Glassdoor founded the list in 2008. This year also marked the eleventh consecutive year that Working Mother magazine named Bain & Company to its “Best Companies” list.
