BCN plays a critical role in supporting Bain's case teams globally to help with analytics and research across all industries, for corporate cases, client development, private equity diligence or Bain intellectual property.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:
This is a full-time position based in Bain’s Gurugram office and forms an integral part of the Healthcare & Life Sciences Centre of Expertise (HLS CoE). The HLS CoE provides specialized support to global consulting teams across the healthcare and life sciences value chain, enabling clients to make strategic business and investment decisions. The team partners closely with case teams as a thought-partner, delivering high-quality, industry-specific analytical products and expertise to address the most critical strategic questions facing Bain’s healthcare clients.
The HLS practice serves leading organizations across Pharmaceuticals, MedTech, Providers, Payers, Global Health, and Digital Health. As part of the HLS CoE, you will collaborate with teams across all major regions (EMEA, Americas, and APAC) in a fast-paced, dynamic environment—working closely with global Bain teams to deliver impactful results for our clients.
Role:
We are looking for a high performing Project Leader to lead a team of 3-4 members focused on MedTech (Medical Devices, Equipment’s, OEMs, Distribution etc.) as a subsector with HLS. A Project Leader (PL) is responsible for ensuring high quality delivery of projects while building strong client relationships and providing day to day coaching and mentoring to team members. The PL works with his/her team to build direction and work-plan, approach to problem solving, hypothesis generation by leveraging the research toolkit.
In this role, you will lead a team comprising Associates and Analysts to deliver high-impact, client-ready proposals, case specific outputs, and go-to-market materials. You will also support the development of intellectual property (IP), thought leadership, and Bain’s internal capabilities. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, understanding of healthcare landscape, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across levels. The PL is also expected to participate in office initiatives such as recruiting, training, and business strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a case/ proposal engagement for our MedTech clients
- Collaborate with Partners/case teams to deliver active cases and develop proposals with domain specific insights in a client ready format
- Engage with Practice leadership on evolving IP/existing products; and ideate in developing new products/IP for Healthcare clients
- Build a strong understanding of MedTech IPs and concepts within the team
- Drive structured problem solving and storytelling for client situations and ensure alignment with Bain’s quality standards
- Provide direct, day-to-day management to a group of 3-4 team members with limited guidance from the Manager
- Ensuring timely, high-quality delivery to clients through effective team management; creating hypothesis; defining deliverables and design outputs; drawing the structure and plan; prioritizing and setting daily timelines; reviewing the team’s output, providing feedback and ensuring quality control
- Identify and proactively engage on critical issues on projects and with clients; proactively resolve problems, remove roadblocks, and escalate issues as needed
- Is proficient at identifying and using the relevant analytical tools and ensures zero-defect in all work streams and ensures quality work delivery; Wherever needed, leverages advanced tools (Tableau, Alteryx, Python, R, SPSS) to improve team efficiency
- Foster collaboration with other BCN and global teams to ensure knowledge sharing
- Own and maintain client relationships
- Understand client needs and situations and adapt to case expectations.
- Communicate data, knowledge, and clearly explain insights and implications for the client to the entire team; Generate and screen realistic answers based on sound reality checks and recommend actionable solutions.
- Effectively manage client and team meetings and deliver clear and professional presentations to the team, team leaders and managers/partners across the Bain system.
- Exerts strong positive influence over developing and retaining top talent
- Develop professional development plans, provide coaching/training, recognize accomplishments of direct reports
- Provides day-to-day coaching on work-planning, problem solving, hypothesis generation and research toolkit
- Ability to build connect with the team members through a trust-based relationship at all levels is a must. Acts as a role model and brand ambassador of the Bain culture
- Constructively engages in mutual feedback process with supervisor and direct reportees; provides concrete, regular and actionable feedback
- Deliver performance reviews and recommends ratings
ABOUT YOU:
1. Experience & Education
- Undergraduate degree (bachelor’s in medicine, pharma, Biomedical, Biotechnology engineering or other science/medical related fields) with 5–8 years of relevant experience in a global professional services environment, with exposure to business research, analytics, and consulting in the MedTech/Healthcare domain
- Postgraduate degree (master’s or equivalent) with 3–6 years of relevant experience in MedTech consulting services
- Strong academic track record and demonstrated analytical excellence
- Proven experience in consulting or proposal development, preferably within the Healthcare and Life Sciences domain
2. Leadership & Team Management
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality outputs under tight deadlines
- Maturity to lead by example, balancing attention to detail with effective delegation
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies
3. Core Skills & Personal Attributes
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to drive senior client and stakeholder discussions
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and translate open-ended ideas into practical, actionable results
- A strong team player with proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted working relationships
- Proficient in both written and spoken English
4. Domain & Technical Expertise
- Deep expertise across the MedTech value chain, including market dynamics, customer segments, regulatory and reimbursement environments, key OEMs, portfolio optimization, and growth and competitive strategy, with a strong end-to-end perspective on the sector
- Experience leading MedTech strategy engagements, including growth strategy, portfolio rationalization, M&A commercial diligence, and post-merger integration
- Ability to translate clinical, technical, and regulatory complexity into clear, actionable strategic insights for senior executives
- Strong understanding of MedTech commercialization and operating models, including pricing, go-to-market design, sales force effectiveness, and lifecycle management
- Strong analytical, problem-structuring, and project management capabilities, with advanced proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint to deliver structured, high-impact outputs
