By historical standards, private equity funds attracted an impressive amount of capital in 2018. Although the pace fell off a bit from 2017’s record-breaking performance, funds raised $714 billion from investors during the year—the third-largest total ever. That brought the amount raised since 2014 to a stunning $3.7 trillion, the strongest five-year performance in the industry’s history.
