Bain & Company elects Bob Bechek as Worldwide Managing Director

BAIN & COMPANY ELECTS BOB BECHEK AS WORLDWIDE MANAGING DIRECTOR

New York—November 21, 2011—Bain & Company, the global business consulting firm, has elected Bob Bechek to serve as the firm’s new worldwide managing director effective March 1, 2012.

Mr. Bechek will succeed Steve Ellis, who served seven years as the worldwide managing director.

Mr. Bechek is currently the partner who heads Bain’s Boston office and the Northeast (US) region. He was previously co-head of the firm’s Global Telecom, Media and Technology Practice. Mr. Bechek has a long and successful record helping clients with strategy and other general management challenges.

“Bob is a role model for Bain’s values and is deeply committed to building on Bain’s nearly 40 years of leadership in our industry,” said Steve Ellis, Bain’s worldwide managing director. “With his leadership qualities, client service track record, and exceptional strategy and operations skills, Bob will successfully lead the firm through the next phase of our growth.”

Prior to joining the firm in 1987, he was vice president and general manager of AKR Robotics, Inc., a company he started in the U.S. after working in mechanical research and development (R&D) for the parent company in France.

He earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.
