About Balaji
Balaji Thirumalai is a member of our Technology and Cloud Services practice. He serves as the head of the Semiconductors and Electronics Manufacturing practice in India. In addition he advises on Engineering and R&D and IT services.
Balaji has extensive operational experience in the semiconductor industry as well as experience in delivering digital transformation, infrastructure, application management and design engineering services to leading Fortune 1000 software, hardware and media companies.
Prior to joining Bain, he most recently headed up M&A for FTC Solar and served as Chief Commerical officer at Solaria, a Solar module startup. He also lead SunEdison’s Commercial and Industrial Business in Asia Pacific, establishing #1 share in India. Balaji's was SVP and Business Head of Mindtree's (now LTIMindtree) Hi-Tech and Media Business managing their $400M P&L.
He is also a co-inventor for three US patents and hold a MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a MS in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at StonyBrook.
In his spare time, he enjoy all things pop-culture (movies, TV and books), sports (cricket, tennis and the NFL), and games (trivia, puzzles, board games and Fantasy Football).
