About Scott

Scott Duncan is the leader of our Americas Machinery practice and co-founder and former leader of the Americas Agribusiness practice.

With more than 30 years of industry and consulting experience, Scott brings deep expertise across industrial sectors, particularly food, specialty chemicals, and packaging. He has supported many of our largest packaging clients, with a focus on growth and cost transformation. His work spans diligence efforts—covering market sizing, share assessment, and cost reduction potential—as well as post-acquisition and general strategy engagements. These include operating model design, market strategy refinement, and tactical cost-saving initiatives. His diligence support has covered acquisition targets across consumer products, industrial goods and services, information services, technology, and telecom.

Before joining Bain, Scott held roles at a private equity firm and several industrial products companies. His private equity experience centered on driving operational improvement through on-site collaboration with portfolio company management teams. In his prior industry roles, he held P&L responsibilities and led business functions such as pricing, production scheduling, sourcing, logistics, product development, and new business development.

He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
