Scott Duncan

Scott Duncan is a partner in Bain & Company's Chicago office. He is an expert in Bain's Energy & Natural ResourcesPrivate Equity and Supply Chain Management practices.

He has more than 20 years of industry and consulting experience. 

Within Bain's Private Equity Group, Scott has supported diligence work focused upon market sizing, market share and cost reduction potential. Acquisition targets have spanned multiple industries, including consumer products, industrial goods and services, healthcare, information services, technology and telecom. He has also supported multiple post-acquisition cases and general strategy projects where he focused upon operating and market strategy refinement and development of tactical cost savings initiatives.

Scott is also a leader in Bain's global Agribusiness practice, which has developed proprietary perspectives on the long-term supply-demand landscape globally for crops, inputs and equipment.

Scott's previous professional experience was at a private equity firm and multiple industrial products companies. The majority of his PE work was more operational in nature. He typically worked on-site with portfolio company management to improve operational effectiveness. His PE role leveraged his prior industry experience, where he had P&L responsibility, managing key business functions such as pricing, production scheduling, sourcing, logistics, product development and new business development.

He earned an MBA from University of Chicago and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
