About Steven

Steven Tallman has served on Bain's Global Operating Committee as Head of Global Operations since 2000..

In this role, Steven has managed most of Bain’s back office and is currently responsible for Bain's Technology Services Group (IT operations & systems), the Information Services and research function, Consulting Operations, the Bain Capability Center in Gurgaon, India, and the EMEA Shared Services Center in Warsaw, Poland. Previously, he also ran the Advanced Analytics Group, the Advanced Product Support Team including the Design & Development Labs, Next Gen Product Management, Global Training, Knowledge Management & the Global Experience Center, Bain.com and the Travel department.

Steven has significant international experience, having worked in Bain's San Francisco, Moscow, Warsaw, Tokyo, Boston, London, Amsterdam and Brussels offices. Steven also supports the expansion of Bain's global footprint and the opening of new offices; serves as the firm's Sustainability Officer, responsible for its annual carbon neutral certification; and is an executive sponsor of BGLAD, Bain's LGBT group. In 2013, Steven was named by the Financial Times as one of the top 25 most influential gay business executives in their first-ever OUTstanding in Business rankings.

From 1996 to 2000, Steven served as Vice President of Training, responsible for designing and implementing a worldwide training and development strategy. He had oversight responsibilities for all global training programs and developed Bain's cutting edge "Virtual University" to facilitate customized training for each employee.

From 1986 to 1996 he was a member of our consulting staff and advised clients across industries, including telecommunications, technology, utilities, healthcare, financial services and consumer products, on issues such as strategy, operations, merger integration, privatization, training and development and knowledge management.

Steven graduated from University of California, Davis, where he received a bachelor of arts, summa cum laude, in economics and political science, and was elected Phi Beta Kappa.
