Share your journey to Bain.

I worked in financial services in Colombia, where I'm originally from, before coming to the U.S. to pursue my MBA at NYU Stern. I was looking to change careers post graduation and found consulting very appealing for the same reasons I chose to go to business school. Both would allow me to learn new things and broaden my perspective, get exposure to diversity of thought and ways of working, and create opportunities for myself to have a meaningful impact in the world.

How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?

I felt I clicked with every Bainie I met right from the start of the recruiting process. They were not only exceptionally smart but also incredibly down to earth and nice. There's no better indication that you're in the right place than being surrounded by people you truly like, respect, and trust. I'm happy to say I still feel the same way after years of joining the firm!

Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?

The intellectual challenge of working with clients to solve tough problems is what I find most energizing about what we do at Bain. All of the cases I've worked on, while different in nature, have presented the opportunity to change the fate of an organization, their customers, or their employees in one way or another.

“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”

I started my Bain career as a Consultant in the Mexico City office, where I helped Latin-American clients tackle customer experience and operational challenges. After two years as a generalist, I wanted to dive deeper into the world of product and innovation and explore the intersection between human-centered design and business strategy. In 2019, I joined the Innovation & Design team as a Manager in the New York office and have continued to grow my career in that same path. This has given me the opportunity to specialize and build significant knowledge in the topic that most interests me while still serving clients in many different industries and living the Bain culture in multiple offices.

I really enjoy business building cases, where we help clients start new ventures by following a rigorous process that applies the principles of human-centered design combined with Bain's core strategy toolkit. Generating innovative ideas to solve existing problems and incubating businesses based on those solutions are the most rewarding (and challenging) types of work I've done at Bain and hope to continue to do.
