How did you end up working at Bain?
After high school, I decided to study statistics, and everyone asked why. Was I crazy? But for me it was simple. I love math. That took me on a scholarship to South Korea and then a summer internship at a Brazilian bank, and a career in finance took a turn into analytics. I wound up working for an American credit score company where I got to combine my loves of problem solving and statistics as a consultant. That was my dream job, and I thought I was set! But the company shifted, and I applied to a bunch of management consulting companies. Bain was my top choice, and it was a real tense few weeks, because I heard back from all the others first, but then I got the answer I wanted! That’s how I joined the Advanced Analytics Group (AAG).
What have you loved best about working here?
I’m part of Asian at Bain and this is a very special group that motivates me to be the best version of myself every day. The people that I’ve met, these friendships go beyond just being coworkers. I feel I can have an honest discussion and ask for very real advice. Sometimes we go to dinner. It's a lot of fun. I share a real deep sense of trust with everyone. I enjoy organizing events with the team. Asian at Bain is my “pet,” as we Bainies say.
Where are you now?
I’m currently working in Santiago, Chile, on transfer from my office in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I feel it’s important to change things up from time to time, so I’m living in a new country, and I’ll be here for at least a year. I’m now three weeks into it. Being a foreigner anywhere is never easy, but Bain has really helped me adapt to the work and environment. In this office, it feels like a family, and they’ve made me so incredibly welcome!
