Hemant Patil

Hemant Patil is our Chief Data Architect and a senior member of our Enterprise Technology practice. He has over 30 years of experience in data strategy, data governance, AI adoption, and industrialization.

Hemant specializes in data modernization. He advises chief data officers and their teams on transforming traditional batch-driven, siloed, and inflexible data architectures to enable rapid, at-scale AI adoption. His work includes implementing modern data and analytics approaches, including data as a product, semantic layers and ontologies, unstructured data management, and federated governance models in large, complex organizations.

While most of his career has focused on banking, financial services, and insurance, Hemant has also worked with consumer products organizations. His experience includes creating a foundational capability to support the data-as-a-product paradigm for a leading wealth management company, developing the business intelligence strategy for a leading insurance company, and modernizing the traditional monolithic data architecture of a global consumer products company into a cloud-based platform supporting multiple data products across dozens of markets.

Before joining Bain, Hemant was the Global Head of Data Architecture at a mid-sized consulting firm that Bain acquired. He has also worked across a range of organizations, from Big Five consulting firms to his own startup ventures in the UK and India.

Hemant holds a degree in electronics engineering and a Master of Management Studies from the University of Mumbai. Outside of work, Hemant enjoys music and mentors young professionals, promoting data architecture as a rewarding vocation.
