Michael Short is a member of our Energy & Natural Resources practices with deep experience in Oil & Gas and Power & Renewables.
He has a particular interest in the disruptive impact of the energy transition across a range of industries and geographies and is a thought leader within Bain on the subject.
Michael’s work spans the energy value chain, with particular specialization in industry topics including global energy markets, liquefied natural gas, upstream oil & gas, and customer-back strategy in regulated and deregulated power markets.
His recent client engagements have covered growth/portfolio strategy, operational performance improvement, customer experience, M&A, and operating model design. His client register spans four continents.
A native Houstonian, Michael joined Bain in our Dallas office in 2007 and was one of the first members of our Houston office upon its opening in 2011. He has held numerous internal leadership roles across training, mentorship and career development.
In a brief departure from Bain from 2015-17, Michael served as the EVP and COO of Servitas LLC, a nationwide real estate development and property management firm.
Michael graduated from Princeton University with an A.B. in Economics and Finance, Phi Beta Kappa. He lives in Houston with his wife, son, and daughter.
