Dave Rennard

Dave Rennard is Vice President of Bain's Global Oil & Gas sector within the Energy & Natural Resources practice.

He specializes in Strategy, Sustainability, and the development of new technologies in the energy space. Dave has led our Integrated Energy team and played a key role in the development of Intersect, Bain’s scenario planning engine. His recent work includes establishing a strategy office for a research and development function, supporting late-life asset optimization, and shaping corporate and business unit strategy through scenario-based planning.

Before joining our firm, Dave worked as an engineering and technology lead at Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil.

He holds a PhD in chemical engineering and materials science from the University of Minnesota, an MBA from Rice University, a master’s degree in economics of energy and the environment from ENI Corporate University, and an A.B. in chemistry and physics from Harvard University.

In his spare time, Dave enjoys whittling spoons, running, and spending time with his sons.
