If we were to ask you to visualize someone who says they work in business, who would come to mind?
Maybe it’s someone in a well-ironed suit, ‘clean-cut’ and polished. What about someone with tattoos across their body? Probably not—or at least not immediately. Tattoos in business are often viewed as a taboo—they just don’t seem to belong (or is that something we’re programmed to think?).
This is where Alex, an expert associate partner in our New York office, challenges that perception. For one, Alex has tattoos and isn’t afraid to show them off in the summer when he’s rocking a polo at the office and for two, he’s a leader at a company that specializes in advising clients on their biggest business problems.
In this episode, you’ll hear him discuss the concept of unconscious bias and the ways we, at Bain, build and scale best practices to ensure our processes are equitable for everyone. You'll also learn a bit more about his story as a mixed, racially ambiguous guy with a love for the arts, social impact and being authentically himself.
