I loved math and science in high school, studied Law and Commerce at university, and have worked in investment banking, consulting, and humanitarian work since then. My focus has consistently been on keeping my learning curve steep and building a broad toolkit.

Being a consultant at Bain has been the perfect place for that. We become experts in strategic thinking and problem-solving while tackling a new challenge every 3–6 months. Within our Private Equity Group that cycle accelerates - even faster-paced learning with new challenges every 3–4 weeks.

How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?

I chose Bain for the people. While Bain is known for its top-tier cases, clients, and results, what stood out most during the recruiting process was the people. Everyone I met was not only incredibly intelligent but also friendly, down-to-earth, and energized by what they did.

Bain uniquely brings together people who are both hardworking and humble. There’s a deeply embedded culture of collaboration and support, whether it’s tackling a late-night piece of analysis, sharing tips, or pooling resources. It’s an environment that propels you forward.

What is the culture of the Melbourne office like? What made you choose this office?

The Melbourne office is both diverse and social. There’s something for everyone: book clubs, run clubs, and of course, Friday drinks. I love that it goes beyond just work, but it’s also not exclusively for extroverts. It’s a very inclusive, welcoming environment.

How has Bain supported you in your career and helped you Be More?

Bain’s emphasis on mentorship - a core part of the culture - has allowed me to build meaningful relationships and have candid conversations about my goals, life, and career pathways. I’ve received invaluable advice and felt consistently supported.

What I particularly appreciate is how openly people share great opportunities and tools they’ve come across, whether it’s an externship, a leadership program, or even emerging AI tools. There’s a strong sense that we’re all in it together.

Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?

The most energizing part of the job is thought-partnering with clients, especially when meetings feel like collaborative workshops. At Bain, we develop a deep understanding of each client’s business, identify key challenges and growth opportunities, bring global best practices, and co-create tailored solutions.

Sharing light-bulb moments with clients - where we both gain clarity on the problem and potential solutions - is powerful.

“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”

I’ve been fortunate to experience several of Bain’s diverse opportunities including social impact work, the Private Equity Group, and an externship. Most recently, I completed a six-month externship with the UN World Food Program, working in its Business Innovation Unit.

There, I applied my Bain toolkit, particularly in technology implementation, process optimization, and cost transformation to help the WFP deliver food and assistance more efficiently. Being supported by Bain to take on such an eye-opening experience, and then return to my role in Melbourne, was truly remarkable.

Share some of your favorite work (personal or professional) you’ve done while at Bain.

One of the most meaningful cases I’ve worked on at Bain involved partnering with a philanthropic trust supporting First Nations communities. We worked with their team on foundational thinking – helping to communicate their holistic definition of economic inclusion, identifying key drivers, and building tools to track key metrics.

We helped the client frame their impact strategy, showcase progress, and identify potential partnerships. It was incredibly fulfilling to apply Bain’s skill set to work that drives positive, lasting change in people’s lives.
