Bain & Company partner Lucy d'Arville named Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum

Sydney – 13 March 2019 - Bain & Company announced that Lucy d’Arville, a Sydney-based partner and head of the firm’s Healthcare practice in Australia, has been named a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum.  Ms. d’Arville was recognized for her work with large payer and provider organizations in transforming healthcare.

Ms. d’Arville is one of 126 of the world’s most promising social activists, business leaders, public servants, artists, and technologists – all under the age of 40 – who have been invited to join the World Economic Forum’s community of Young Global Leaders.  Nominated from around the world, the young leaders are assessed according to rigorous selection criteria and have demonstrated their commitment to serving society. The Forum of YGLs works closely with the World Economic Forum to integrate young leaders into deep interaction with other stakeholders of global society.

“Lucy is a force for change and deeply committed to shaping the global future,” said Satish Shankar, regional managing partner for Bain & Company in Asia Pacific. “She truly embodies what it means to be a Young Global Leader and, on behalf of her colleagues around the world, I congratulate her on this honour.”

Ms. d’Arville works extensively with clients in the insurance (health, P&C and workers compensation) and healthcare sectors. She has led a wide range of projects with an emphasis on business growth, organizational effectiveness, and operational performance improvement including supply chain and claims management optimization.  She is also a core member of Bain & Company’s Financial Services and Performance Improvement practices in Asia Pacific.

Ms. d’Arville has been active in social engagement from a young age and is recognized for her inspirational leadership and commitment to investing in people at the firm. She has significantly contributed to combating disadvantage through her work with local organizations such as OzHarvest, Restacking the Odds and her leadership of Bain & Company's Social Impact program.

She joined Bain & Company in 2005 and returned in 2012 following a four-year period broadening her general management expertise at Achilles Group in London.  At Achilles, she was first in a strategy role, then was Director of Carbon Reduction Services, starting a new business to measure and reduce greenhouse gas emissions of suppliers, and finally was Global Sector Director FMCG, where she established a global supplier pre-qualification system for its supply chain of 100,000+ suppliers.

“I am delighted and honoured to be selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader,” said Ms. d’Arville.  “I look forward to working with the Young Global Leader community to help drive positive social change.”

Ms. d’Arville holds a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours and University Medal) from Australian National University, which included an exchange to Balliol College to read Economics at Oxford University.

She joins a roster of seven other Bain partners who have been selected as Young Global Leaders or are YGL alumni.
