• Who is required to complete the assessment?

  Candidates applying for both intern and full-time consulting roles may be required to complete a digital assessment. Requirements may vary based on your chosen role and office requirements. If a digital assessment is required, it will be viewed as a mandatory step as part of your application. Applications will not be considered if the digital assessment is not completed by the deadline. If an assessment is required, you will receive further information from the recruiter.

  Note: If you’ve already completed the assessment, you won’t need to retake it unless directed otherwise.

• Which assessment will I be asked to complete?

  If a digital assessment is required, you will receive an email after submitting the application detailing whether you are required to complete Sova or Test Gorilla.

• When will I receive the assessment?

  If a digital assessment is required, timeframes can vary by office / region. In some markets, you can expect to receive your personalized assessment link within one week of submitting your application. 

  The assessment takes approximately 30-40 minutes. The deadline for completing the assessment will be provided in the email you receive. Please plan accordingly, as you will be required to take the assessment in the stated timeline.

• How should I prepare for the assessment?

  For both assessments:
  To set yourself up for success, we recommend you:

  • Find a quiet, distraction-free environment
  • Use a laptop or desktop with a stable internet connection
  • Please ensure you complete the assessment independently, without the assistance of others

  
  The use of AI tools are strictly prohibited; this includes recording, screenshots, or use of any software that transcribes or provides feedback during the assessment.

  For Test Gorilla:

  • No preparation is needed
  • We recommend using the Google Chrome browser. (Note: other browsers work but are not as reliable)
  • A pen, paper, and calculator are allowed; Calculators are allowed for the Test Gorilla assessment only, not during any subsequent interviews
  • Complete the test in one sitting

  
  For Sova:

  • We recommend you look at the candidate preparation area of Sova's website, which contains some sample assessment questions
  • A pen, paper and calculator are allowed; calculators are allowed only for the digital assessment, not during subsequent interviews
  • You do not need to complete the Sova assessment in one sitting, but please ensure all sections are completed ahead of the deadline outlined in your invitation email
• Why is Bain using digital assessments?

  Digital assessments give us a more holistic view of each candidate, beyond just resumes or transcripts. The assessment will be considered as one part of the review process, in addition to other parts of your application.

  If you are selected to interview with one of our European or Middle East offices, you’ll be asked to complete a few short questions via video to help us understand your level of comfort with different technical skills. This is not used to evaluate your candidacy, but in line with our commitment to supporting our teams in leveraging the best technology in how we work together and with our clients. You will receive full instructions later in the process, alongside your interview invite.

• What skills does the assessment test?

  The assessment is designed to reflect the skills essential for success in consulting roles, such as problem solving, communication and analytical skills.

• Who should I reach out to for support for accommodations and technical issues?

  For Test Gorilla

  • You will be able to request an accommodation to Test Gorilla during the assessment setup.  
  • If you encounter a technical issue during the Test Gorilla assessment, please either use the widget at the bottom of your screen to report the issue or contact help@testgorilla.com.

  
  For Sova

  • Should you require a reasonable adjustment to the Sova assessment, please do not start the assessment and contact us as soon as you can at EMEA.TalentAcquisition@bain.com to discuss possible accommodation.

• What should I do if I haven’t received my assessment link?

  Be sure to check your spam folder if you haven’t received your link. If you still can’t find your link, please respond to your Bain communication email.

• How long after I take the assessment should I expect to hear back from Bain?

  Timelines may vary according to the role and offices you apply to, but applicants can expect to hear within 60 days.
