Orit Gadiesh hosted Bain's 8th Annual Davos breakfast on "The power of repeatability" at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The breakfast featured speakers Pius Baschera, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Hilti, Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer at Facebook, and Chris Zook, co-head of Bain & Company's Global Strategy practice and co-author of the Repeatability: Build Enduring Business for a World of Constant Change as well as the growth trilogy Profit from the Core, Beyond the Core, and Unstoppable.
Complexity can be a silent killer of profitable growth. Successful companies endure by maintaining a form of simplicity at their core. They don't stray from, or regularly discard, their business model in pursuit of radical renovation. Instead, they build a "repeatable business model" that produces continuous improvement and allows them to rapidly adapt to change without succumbing to complexity. Companies combining a core differentiation model with speed, adaptability and simplicity are likely to land at the top of the competitor chain for long periods of time.
Since 2004, Bain has been a partner of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting, held yearly in Davos, Switzerland. The meeting brings together global leaders—of business, government, culture, society and religion—to discuss the most pressing issues facing the global community.
