Bain & Company partner Weiwei Xing named young global leader by World Economic Forum

Hong Kong – 11 March 2020 - Bain & Company has announced that Weiwei Xing, a Hong Kong based partner and an expert in the firm's Consumer Products & Retail and Performance Improvement practices, has been named a Young Global Leader (YGL) by the World Economic Forum.  Ms. Xing has been recognized for her work, professional business contributions, client impact, and her commitment to social work in the greater China community.

Ms. Xing is one of 115 of the most promising artists, activists, academics, executives and political leaders under the age of 40, who have been invited to join the World Economic Forum’s community of Young Global Leaders. This year, over half of new members are women, and one third of Young Global Leaders are from emerging economies. They represent a diverse group with an ability to enhance understanding and promote action.

Nominated from around the world, the young leaders are assessed according to rigorous selection criteria and have demonstrated their commitment to serving society. The Forum of YGLs works closely with the World Economic Forum to integrate young leaders into deep interaction with other stakeholders of global society.

“Weiwei is truly a positive force for change and is passionate about helping to shape a future of which we can all be proud,” said Satish Shankar, regional managing partner for Bain & Company in Asia Pacific. “She embodies all of the attributes that a young global leader is known for and on behalf of the entire Bain family, I’d like to congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.”

Since joining Bain & Company in 2011, Ms. Xing has honed deep expertise across numerous consumer products & retail sectors, including beauty, luxury , personal care, food and beverage, and hotels. Her core capabilities include performance improvement, customer strategy & marketing, and organisation. Earlier in her career, Ms. Xing worked as a consultant for another top firm in the U.S. and London. She also served on the board of the Middlesex County chapter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

“I’m truly honored and thrilled to have been selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader,” said Ms. Xing.  “I’ve always admired the work that the Young Global Leader community has done to help promote positive social change and look forward to joining them and helping to aid in this effort.”

Ms. Xing holds an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

She joins a roster of eight other Bain partners who have been selected as Young Global Leaders or are YGL alumni.
