Bain & Company appoints new regional leaders of its Healthcare & Life Sciences practice

BOSTON – January 13, 2025 – Bain & Company has appointed Michael Brookshire to lead its Healthcare & Life Sciences practice in the Americas and Valerio Di Filippo to lead the practice in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

Michael, a partner in Bain’s Dallas office and 25-year veteran of the firm, brings deep experience in the provider, payer, and healthcare services sectors. His clients span the full range of providers, including health systems, academic medical centers, outpatient clinics, physician groups, and others. He has also advised payers and healthcare services companies, including distributors, healthcare IT, and services geared toward providers, payers, and pharmaceuticals. Michael specializes in advising clients across a range of strategy, operations, M&A, and customer experience topics. He previously served as the head of Bain Texas, which includes offices in Austin, Dallas, and Houston.

Valerio, a partner in Bain’s Rome office, is also a 25-year veteran of the firm and an established leader in Bain’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. He brings a wealth of experience working across the full pharmaceutical value chain and within all the other main healthcare sectors—including distributors, private hospitals, and medtech—working with family-owned clients and public companies as well as private equity investors. He advises clients across a wide range of geographies, specializing in strategy, operating model, go-to-market, M&A, and business development.

“Michael and Valerio exemplify the qualities of leadership, collaboration, and innovation that are at the heart of Bain’s values,” said Vikram Kapur, global head of Bain & Company’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. “They bring deep expertise across the healthcare landscape in their respective regions, have built best-in-class partnerships with their clients, and are both highly sought after coaches and mentors within the firm. In these new roles, Michael and Valerio will remain focused on delivering results for their clients while applying their leadership skills to drive excellence across the practice, allowing us to continue to bring the best of Bain to our clients. We thank them for their servant leadership.”

Michael succeeds Josh Weisbrod in the Americas, and Valerio succeeds Loïc Plantevin in EMEA. They will remain focused on their respective clients.

“Under Josh and Loic’s leadership, Bain’s Healthcare & Life Sciences practice saw exponential growth across the entire healthcare value chain in the Americas and EMEA,” Vikram added. “From their commitment to our clients to their dedication to coaching and developing our teams, they have served as role models to many of us. We are grateful for their leadership.”
