Richard Fleming’s career reflects a global journey driven by curiosity, a love for technology, and a commitment to impact. Growing up between Africa and the UK, Richard embraced opportunities that took him across continents where he built roads in the African bush to taking roles in Malaysia, New Zealand, and ultimately Australia, where he pursued an MBA. He joined Bain attracted by its results-oriented culture, later advancing through leadership roles in Sydney, Japan, New York, and back. Throughout, he prioritized meaningful experiences, taking sabbaticals to strengthen family ties and pursue personal goals like living in ten countries and staying connected to his roots.
Richard’s long-standing interest in technology led him to spearhead Bain’s AI, Insights, and Solutions practice in the Asia-Pacific region. He recognized early the transformative potential of AI and leaned into learning advanced analytics and machine learning, including courses and personal experiments in genetic algorithms. Today, Richard leads a multidisciplinary team focused on embedding AI into client strategies that function as a core enabler of business transformation. Under his leadership, the practice has grown significantly, helping clients execute with impact by building capabilities, reshaping roles, and deploying cutting-edge solutions at scale.
