Share your journey to Bain.
As a Psychology major, I wasn't exposed to consulting until later in my college career. My studies gave me an appreciation for how people think and behave, but I also wanted to complement that perspective by building strong business acumen and analytical skills. Through conversations with mentors and people at Bain, I realized Bain would be an excellent environment to apply my people-focused background while learning about different industries and developing the skills I was eager to build.
Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?
One of the reasons I was drawn to Bain was the chance to work on the some of the most important challenges facing impactful companies. The variety of industries and functions I've been exposed to has been energizing (I haven't done the same thing twice yet!). What stands out most though is being able to work alongside colleagues who care about and are seeking to promote each others success. That combination of impact and support makes Bain unique.
What advice would you give a candidate who is interested in recruiting for consulting?
Use the recruiting process as a chance to explore whether consulting is the right fit for you. Take time to reflect on what industries and capabilities excite you most. View the case interview as an opportunity to experience what the job may feel like. Talk to people about their experiences in consulting whenever you can as those conversations provide valuable perspective and bring the job to life. Bain welcomes people from many different backgrounds, so don't feel like you have to fit a specific mold. Instead, focus on voicing your own "why consulting" and the unique perspective you bring.
