Neil

Neil Cherry is the managing partner of Bain & Company's San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. 

He has overseen the firm's strategy and operations in the Bay Area since 2011, working closely with his counterparts and practice leaders across the globe. 

Neil is a senior leader in Bain's global Retail and Consumer Products practices and an active contributor to the Energy & Natural ResourcesUtilities, Performance Improvement and Transformation practices. He has deep expertise and experience across a range of sectors within retail and consumer products, including restaurants, specialty retail, retail services, food and beverage and health and wellness. His functional expertise includes corporate and business unit strategy, growth strategy, customer segmentation, cost & operations optimization, M&A, organization and change management. He also has significant experience working with private equity funds and portfolio companies.

Neil has an extensive track record of supporting change-oriented senior executives and shareholders to create major growth stories and successful business transformations. For example, he played a major leadership role in driving a massively successful strategic and operational transformation at a market-leading beverage retailer. He has also worked to drive several major full potential efforts that resulted in very attractive exits.

Having joined Bain in 1990, Neil was promoted to partner in 2001 and director in 2007. In addition to his consulting responsibilities, he actively participates in firm leadership and governance. He was awarded Bain's highest honor, the Bright Dix award, for excellence in Leadership and Professional Development in 2011 and was most recently elected by the global partnership to serve on Bain's five member Global Nominating Committee. Neil also chairs the Bain Women's Regional Operating Committee in the Americas, which aims to increase the number of women in Bain's leadership ranks. 

Neil earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was selected as an Arjay Miller Scholar. He also graduated with Honors from of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where earned a BS in Economics.
